About
This course is designed to acquaint undergraduates and graduate students, county and state extension specialists, and educators with the diverse agricultural, environmental management, and agribusiness activities in Veracruz State, Mexico - an important trading partner with Georgia and other southeastern states.
Students will begin and end the course with seminars on the UGA campus, and will spend three weeks in Xalapa, Mexico, and surrounding communities learning about Mexican culture, food and fiber production systems and related agribusinesses, and concerns and impacts of environmental issues.
A typical day in Xalapa will include field trips to coffee plantations and other international agribusinesses to observe production, marketing, and environmental management practices. In the afternoons, students attend Spanish language and Mexican culture classes at the Escuela para Estudiantes Extranjeros, the School for Foreign Students at the University of Veracruz, and attend lectures by University of Veracruz faculty.
At the end of the Study Abroad course, students will have a better understanding of the Mexican culture, economy, language, and international business practices, marketing, and management.
