About
Tanzania is alive with natural beauty, thriving international business and captivating historical sites. Attractions include local and international art, the world-renowned Ngorongoro Crater, Oldevai Gorge, and vast game parks. The elevation ensures temperate weather and abundant flowering plants and trees. Mount Kilimanjaro is clearly visible from the MC-TCDC campus near Arusha.
Become acquainted with the diverse agricultural, environmental management, and agribusiness settings in Tanzania, an important political and trading partner with other African states, Georgia, and the United States. After an informative seminar on The University of Georgia Athens campus, you'll spend 21 days exploring Tanzania, learning about East African culture, farming systems, agribusinesses, and environmental issues. You'll have the opportunity to learn basic business Swahili, the primary language of the region. By the time the course concludes with a follow-up seminar at UGA, you'll have a far better understanding of the economies, cultures, languages, and international business practices of Tanzania.
On a typical day in Tanzania, you may visit coffee/tea plantations, fruit and vegetable enterprises, or other business and government venues to observe production, processing, management and marketing practices. You'll also travel to the legendary spice markets of Zanzibar and the beautiful game parks in the north. UGA agribusiness and business leadership faculty will conduct evening seminars on modern Tanzanian economy, culture, politics, eco-tourism, and the East African business climate, including special practices and differences in negotiation styles.
